Our History
Men’s Newcomers Club was formed in 1996 by the efforts of Harry Heyl, Bill Gorski, and Buck Weaver. The club was envisioned as a loosely organized group of men that would meet monthly to be informed of local activities and have some fellowship over lunch. Those early years saw the original group of thirteen grow and shrink and grow as they moved lunch from place to place looking for the best spot. Finally, in 2002, we settled on Fernandina Beach Golf Clubhouse, partially through Harry’s connection with the Golf Club as a past board member, and Jerry Neal‘s efforts to settle down in one venue.
