Underprivileged children program to be discussed
At Sept. 18 Men’s Club luncheon
Daisy Hester
Daisy Hester, a former FBI agent who is currently working with the local chapter of the America’s Youth organization, is the guest speaker at the Men’s Newcomers Club luncheon Thursday, Sept. 18, 11:30 a.m., at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club on Bill Melton Road.
Ms. Hester served 20 years as a special agent in the Miami Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. During that time, she was assigned to the Organized Crime/Drug Program, Counterintelligence and Counterterrorism programs, and the South Florida Healthcare Fraud Strike Force. She also became certified as a general police instructor, hostage/crisis negotiator, adjunct faculty professor, and FBI legal advisor.
Prior to joining the FBI, Daisy earned a BA in Sociology from the University of Miami, and a JD from the University of Florida College of Law. She has worked as an assistant attorney general for the State of Florida, an attorney at law in private practice and as an associate division counsel in the FBI’s Miami Division.
A lifetime of public service led her to volunteer at the Interfaith Dinner Network, which, in turn, introduced her to America’s Youth Inc. There she presently assists the founder, John Gilbert Sr., with community outreach and the management and administration of its various programs and events. America’s Youth Inc. has served underprivileged children in Fernandina Beach for more than 27 years.
In an effort to reduce juvenile crime and instill positive values, character, and leadership skills, America’s Youth Inc. provides safe activities for the citizens of Nassau County.
