    Rescheduled!

  Our January tour was canceled due to inclement weather.  It has been rescheduled for February 26.

  This tour will provide an  overview of the many and varied opportunities offered by the Fernandina Beach Department of Parks and Recreation. Join us to learn about sports and fitness programs, aquatic facilities, parks and playgrounds, hiking the Greenway, or touring the lighthouse.
  

  We will meet in the gym of the Martin Luther King Center at 1200 Elm Street at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 26,

  There is no cost for this tour.

  This tour is an extension of the “Be Your Best” presentation that Dawn Grant made at the January luncheon. We will visit her facility, AMEILA SHOTGUN SPORTS, have an opportunity to shoot at 4 targets then experience a short (30 minute) Mental Training session with hypnosis by Dawn Grant. Golf carts, guns, eye and ear protection, ammo and an instructor will be provided for the shooting experience.  The Mental Training session will be followed by a Q&A session with Dawn.

  This tour will be limited to 20 participants.  A wait list will be established.

  Closed toe shoes are required and participants will be expected to sign a separate waiver of liability for this facility. 
  

            The cost for this experience will be $30.

  THE ROARING 20's
  

  Have a roaring good time when the Women's Newcomers join with the Men's Newcomers for a fun and festive evening eating and drinking with dancing under the stars.  This event's theme is The Roaring 20's with prizes for the best dressed and will be held at the fabulous Golf Club of Amelia Island on April 3, 2025.  The festivities start at 6:00 pm with light music playing and passed hors d'oeuvres followed by dinner and dancing until 10:00 pm.

• Walk With The Goats: Jaybird Hammock Farm

  This unique tour will take us to the Jaybird Hammock Farm, just off Nassauville Road in Yulee where we will walk a nature trail with a herd of goats and naturalist-farm owner Tina Jenkins. She will share her knowledge of the farm, animals, wildlife and vegetation as we leisurely stroll a trail that encircles the 2 ponds, and past the donkey’s enclosure to a giant grandmother oak tree and into the pine forest. 
  

  It is suggested that you bring water (or beverage of your choice) and bug repellant. Wear comfortable clothes & shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.  Please do not carry snacks or food of any kind, the goats can smell it and they will try to take it.

  Warning:  The ground is uneven, and goats may bump into you or jump on you while walking. Participants should be steady on their feet.

                  The cost for this tour is $12.00.

  Guest parking is by the barn, the barn gate is a few hundred feet before the GPS address and marked with a Jaybird Flag.
