Feathers, Ferns & Dinner Spring Fling Theme
at Walkers Landing April 22
Feathers, Ferns & Dinner will be featured at the Men’s Newcomers Club annual dinner-dance, The Spring Fling, to be held April 22 at Walker’s Landing, 6 to 10 p.m. The popular hat contest – for ladies and gents -- will be reprised.
To be held on a Wednesday this year due to scheduling issues at the popular Walker’s Landing, the club’s marquis event will have a return of the entertaining Spring Fling band, Crescendo Amelia with Frank Basile. The dinner will be a catered buffet by Jimbo’s with prime rib and baked salmon as the entrees. Jimbo’s famous shrimp and grits will highlight hors d’oeurves. Soft drinks and mixers will be available; attendees should bring their own drinks of choice. There will be a variety of cakes and pies with the popular key lime cake making a return.
Building on last year’s Kentucky Derby hat competition, a panel of judges will select the best feather and fern hat worn by a woman and a man with suitable prizes for the winners.
Reservations should be made early as the event has a capacity of 140 people. If a table is to be reserved for a group, one club member should be identified as the “host” who should send a list of names of those to be at the table via e-mail to Bob Wesche at bwesche6@gmail.com. Those wishing to sit at a specific table should also enter the name of the table’s “host” in their registration form, and write it on their check. Tables can accommodate eight people only. The Spring Fling committee will make every effort to accommodate seating preferences within the limits of the space and Walker’s Landing capacity.
Spring Fling reservations are $60 per person. Reservations can be made by clicking “Register” below, or by responding to this notice -- however, final confirmation will be made when the check is received. (When you click on “Register, please DO NOT enter your email address for your guest- better to leave it blank. Also, if you don’t receive a prompt confirmation email from the system, your registration process was not completed properly- be sure to click “Next” at the bottom of the forms if they are there, and finally click on “Confirm”.) Mail checks to MNC, PO Box 16291, Fernandina Beach, FL 32035 to arrive no later than Saturday, April 11.
