Jennifer Mitchell, Ph.D of the St. Johns River Management District explained to the club that conserving water from the Florida aquifer avoids the higher costs of processing surface water, reclaimed water and desalinization of sea water. More efficient homes are the key conservation measure that has kept District water use under 1200 gallons per day for the past six years after being as high as 2600 gallons a day in 2006.
