MNC May 26 luncheon to include officer election,
Circle of Honor inductees, wine presentation
The Men’s Newcomers Club will elect its leadership for the coming year, honor inductees into its Circle of Honor and compare a pair of wines at its luncheon, Wednesday (not our usual Thursday!), May 26, at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club.
This is the Club’s annual meeting with election of officers for 2021-22. Nomination Committee has selected Paul Pierson for president and John Weller for vice president. Other nominations can be made by members attending either in person or virtually.
We will honor last year’s inductees into the Club’s Circle of Honor – Dick McCarthy and Carl Meaux – who were not given proper recognition due to last year’s Covid-cancelled meeting. A fourth addition to the Circle of Honor will also be announced. Bob Keane, longtime treasurer, was the first Circle inductee in 2019.
In addition to Club business, there will be a wine presentation by Bob Weintraub, former wine columnist of the News-Leader and a tasting of two similar wines including “the lost wine of Bordeaux.”
The meeting will be available on the GoToMeeting program. Details will be provided for those registering. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a social half-hour. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by the Circle induction abut 12:15 and a business meeting.
To register for the meeting, click on the register box below. Members who wish to attend the luncheon can do so by clicking on the “Members in Person Meeting and Lunch” when they register. When the capacity is reached, a waiting list will be created, which will allow members to be confirmed as earlier registrants cancel their registrations. Those preferring to participate virtually should select the “Virtual Meeting Participant” option. There is no cost for this option, which is also available to non-members. GoToMeeting log in instructions will be provided in your confirmation and event reminder emails.
Cost to attend the golf club luncheon is the usual $15 which can be paid by credit card when registering (click “Pay online”), or by clicking on “Invoice me” and sending a check to MNC PO Box 16291, Fernandina Beach, FL 32035 to arrive by May 22. Given our 66 person limit for in-person attendance with 6 per table, members’ registrations not paid by then will be cancelled to make room for waitlisted members.
