Whale Ambassadors to discussRight whales at Oct. 17 MNC luncheon
Scott Rowley, authority on right whales and a member of the Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors Association (AIWA), will be guest speaker at the Men’s Newcomers Club luncheon Thursday, Oct. 17, 11:30 a.m., at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club on Bill Melton Road.
Rowley serves on the board of AIWA. He was a professor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine who retired to Amelia Island in 2022 after a 40+ year career in cancer research. He is a lifetime member of the Sierra Club and Appalachian Mountain Club, a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and volunteers locally with Invader Raiders and Friends of Fort Clinch.
Scott will lead a discussion regarding the right whales that winter in the waters off Amelia Island, including:
The Club expects all attendees to be fully vaccinated from COVID 19.
To register for the meeting, click on the register box nearby. The Club has a capacity of 100 for lunch. Once registrations have reached that limit, a waiting list will be maintained.
Cost to attend the golf club luncheon is $23 which can be paid by credit card when registering (click “Pay online”), or by clicking on “Invoice me” and sending a check to MNC PO Box 16291, Fernandina Beach, FL 32035 to arrive by Oct. 12. Given the 100-person limit for in-person attendance, members’ registrations not paid by then will be cancelled to make room for waitlisted members.
